Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht's Profile
Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht is currently working as Vice Chancellor University of Swat. Prior to this, he served as Professor and Head at the Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering Agricultural University Peshawar. He obtained his PhD from the University of Glasgow in 1995, specializing in the field of Plant Biotechnology. Prof. Bakht has successfully completed four postdoctoral fellowships from world-famous Universities i.e. Glasgow University (U.K.), Milan University (Italy), National University of Rosario (Argentina) and University of California, Riverside (U.S.). Prof. Bakht is a fellow of the World Laboratory (Switzerland), The Third World Academy of Sciences (Italy) and Conicet (Argentina).
Prof. Bakht has 26 years’ experience of teaching and research in the field of plant biotechnology. He has supervised more than 100 MPhil and 40 PhD research scholars. He has published more than 200 papers in various national and international scientific journals and has been actively involved in international collaboration with CEFOBI, National University of Rosario (Argentina), University of Milan (Italy), University of California, Riverside (U.S.) and University of Glasgow (U.K.). He is the author of five international books published on various aspects of plant biology and agriculture. Prof. Bakht is the member of 25 national and international professional societies. He has also acted as an examiner for PhD theses for more than 60 research scholars. He is a proud recipient of the Research Productivity Award for the last three consecutive years, which is awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Islamabad. He has also been awarded HEC Best University Teacher Award for the year 2013-14. In 2015, The Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) also conferred the Research and Development Effort Award to Prof. Jehan Bakht. He continues to serve various academic and selection boards of universities in KPK.
