Dr. Syed Iqbal Raza's Profile

Dr. Syed Iqbal Raza is a former Joint Executive Director with the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad. Dr. Raza has worked with USAID from 1983-84 on primary health care in rural and urban settings. Again, in 2006, he worked as National Programme Manager of the National Acute Respiratory Infections Programme. He has played a major role in getting the Sheikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and College of Physician and Surgeon for Postgraduate Teaching and Training in shortest possible time.

Dr. Raza completed his MBBS form King Edward Medical College Lahore and Master’s in Medical Administration from Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad and an Advanced Medical Administration Course from Armed Forces Medical College, Rawalpindi. Dr. Raza completed his DTM&H from the University of Liverpool, in 1986 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Tropical Medicine in 1987. He participated in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program in the field of health care administration at Tulane University, New Orleans (1984-85). Since his participation in the Humphrey program, Dr. Raza has been actively participating in the Humphrey alumni activities within Pakistan, as well as representing Pakistan at several international alumni events.

Dr. Raza also served as the President of the Humphrey Alumni Association of Pakistan and as Chair on the USEFP Board of Directors.
